Autism and Play

What does the DSM say about autism and play? Why is it hard for autistics to imaginative play? Do we teach them how to play differently? Is teaching them too far outside of their abilities cause failure? Can we change the rest of the world? Can we add acceptance for those who play differently? How do I help my child? What is my role? Can their script change when they've seen the script or acted out the script a thousand times? Can they find other ways to connect with peers other than imaginative play? Is creativity in autism proof of a different kind of imagination?

When autistics connect to their passions, the wheels turn and there is no script, to me that is imagination. Those who made google and apple and other inventions are very creative and had to think outside of the box (imagination) in order to invent what they have. Maybe we need to look at imagination differently.

Autistics can have imaginations they are just expressed differently.
